What If You Don't Like What You See in the Mirror?
For the days when your reflection doesn't feel like your friend.

Have you ever looked in the mirror and suddenly noticed something you didn't like?
Your hair. Your skin. Your shape. Something that looks different from everyone else.
And then, somehow, that one thing becomes ALL you can see.
Here's what I want you to know:
You don't have to love how you look every single day.
Really.
Your body is changing. So is everyone else's.
Some girls get taller first. Some notice changes earlier. Others later.
Bodies don't follow one exact schedule.
And despite what it might look like at school or online, there isn't one right way to look.
Comparison makes it easy to forget that.
Especially when you're looking at carefully chosen photos, perfect lighting, filters, or people who seem to have everything figured out.
But you're seeing one tiny piece of their lives.
Not the whole picture.
What if we stopped grading ourselves?
Imagine if every time you looked in the mirror, you gave yourself a score.
Hair? Check.
Skin? Not today.
Outfit? Maybe.
That would get exhausting.
Now imagine looking in the mirror without deciding whether everything is good or bad.
Just noticing yourself.
You don't have to call yourself beautiful if you don't feel beautiful that day.
You can simply say:
“This is me. And I deserve to be kind to myself.”
That's enough.
Your body does so much more than look a certain way.
Think about everything you've done today.
Maybe you laughed so hard your stomach hurt.
Maybe you danced, ran, hugged someone, played music, made something, or just curled up with a good book.
Your body was there for all of it.
And you are so much more than your appearance.
You're your ideas. Your jokes. Your kindness. Your opinions. Your curiosity. The things you love.
None of those disappear because you don't like a photograph of yourself.
Try this little experiment
The next time you catch yourself thinking something mean about how you look, imagine your best friend said that exact thing about herself.
Would you agree?
Would you tell her she's not good enough?
Probably not.
So what would you say instead?
Try offering yourself that same kindness.
It might feel strange at first. That's okay.
And if worries about your appearance keep taking up a lot of space in your day, talk to someone you trust. You don't have to figure those feelings out alone.

One last thing: a mirror can show you what you look like. It can't tell you who you are.
